Canadian artist Lawren Harris’s iceberg images have become iconic of Canadian landscape painting. In this gallery talk, Sara Angel, Executive Director of the Art Canada Institute at the University of Toronto, discusses Harris’s painting Grounded Icebergs, featured in the exhibition Picturing the Americas: Landscape Painting from Tierra del Fuego to the Arctic. Angel considers Harris’s painting in relation to the work of American artist Georgia O’Keeffe and discusses each of these artists’ efforts to define an artistic style specific to their nationality.
